How the table is built

Every casino gets one score out of ten, and it is the average of five parts: how deep the catalogue is, what the welcome offer comes to, what the licence and regulator record look like, what the site gives beyond a deposit, and how fast the cashier actually moves. Each part is shown on each casino’s own page with the arithmetic spelled out, so you can disagree with a weighting and still use the numbers.

Where a fact was not available we say so rather than substituting an average. Four bonus figures were thrown out because they turned out to be amounts lifted from winners tables rather than offers; one studio was dropped from our list because it does not appear in a single Australian lobby we captured. Those gaps are the point — a comparison that never admits to one is not measuring anything.

Two companies, sixteen brands

The single most useful thing in this data is not any one score. It is that Metlait and Novatrix run eight brands each among these fifty, and seven of the top ten places belong to those two companies. Their sites genuinely differ — welcome packages run from A$1,000 to A$25,000, catalogues from 36 games to 459 — but if you move between them expecting a different company to deal with, you will be disappointed. The second table above shows the best brand from each operator instead.
